Updated patio pics

It's finally not raining here, or in the 40's, and it's actually sunny. Welcome to our patio as we see it in the morning.

The other side of the hammock are 6 arborvitae "trees/bushes". Got these at Home Depot during a great sale for $9.99 each! Normally $19.99.

There's that "swingasan" from Pier 1 that I obsessed about. And yes, it's the best swing EVAH! The pink flower bushes are rhoderdendrons. To the far left of them are small hydrangea bushes and the taller, lighter green bushes are burning bushes (turn deep/bright red int he fall). All super buys at Home Depot with coupons they mailed out for being a Garden Club member and the 10% off coupons.

Your backyard is soo beautiful and I love it. I cannot believe how beautifully you decorated everything and the way you planted the bushes\flowers it looks like it has been done by a professional. It looks great Amy loving it. Now I am tempted to buy a hammock haha.

I really like the patio - is it stamped concrete? BF is set on a deck on our new house, but I'm thinking that a patio might be much more useable. Did you consider a deck at all, or was it patio all the way?

Thanks everyone! It turned out better than I could ever imagine! My husband is pretty good at landscaping so this is why we were able to do that part around the patio. I get credit for picking out the plants! We got a ton of free dirt from the excavations around here.

@Ravenna Ranter: a deck was never an option. Our previous house had a 3 tier deck in the back and a large deck/porch made from Trex(composite material)in the front. Staining the deck really, really sucked. Then you had to deal with wood warping, splinters, getting too hot to walk on, etc. The composite decking was a thought, but it gets pretty slick when wet and the cost for the stamped concrete was almost the same, if not better. The trend around here seems to be the stamped concrete patios and some with a combination of a deck with a patio landing below. We wanted maintenance free. We'll have to roll a sealer on this yearly - but it's super easy to do and dries within an hour. No need to worry about protecting the house from the stain or any of the other mess that comes along with staining and restaining a deck.

@ Ravenna Ranter (RR):

I was going to say the same thing about the deck as Amy did. They require a LOT more maintenance than a patio. Patios you just pressure wash once a year or so. =)

Decks require staining/painting yearly. They do splinter, warp, ect. and boards will eventually need replacing. Plus you have to keep undergrowth from happening underneath the deck.

The upkeep of a patio is much easier to maintain and cheaper.

Wow...your patio is really nice! I remember you mentioning the that the installer would come to Columbus. I just showed my husband and he really liked it too. I may be getting that name from you. It looks great!

WOW is right. It all looks fantastic and that view is unbelievable!!! You've been keeping that a secret from us.

My wife and I were originally going to add a deck to our house, but after seeing so many great looking patio/hardscapes we have decided to go that way instead...once again you have inspired us!!!

Gorgeous! I love your patio. I have been complaining about not having a deck this entire process (of course I didn’t know the first thing about the maintenance) but now seeing how beautiful your patio is makes me forget about the deck…lol
